Upanisads and Gita
The world outside, as much as most people in India itself, do not yet know that it was the higher part of, what Julian Huxley terms, a science of human possibilities, that India developed ages ago in her Upanisads and the Gita, and has continued to foster, up to our own times, as Vedanta and Yoga, as the adhyatma-vidya, the vidya, or science, of man in depth, the science and technique of a comprehensive spirituality encompassing action as well as contemplation. Indian philosophy sees no conflict between physical sciences and this science of spirituality, between ‘man, the known’ and ‘man, the unknown’, between the physical man and the spiritual man.
